55th Annual Awards Luncheon was held on Thursday, April 29, 2010
The Women’s Council of Dallas County celebrated its 55th annual awards luncheon on April 29, continuing the tradition of honoring some of Dallas’ greatest women.
This year Vivian Castleberry was honored as “Woman of the Year” for her many accomplishments to the city of Dallas.
Other honorees included:
o Individual Award – Barbara Materka
o Emerging Leader Award – Brandon Gallop Rice
o Public Service - The Honorable Carolyn Wright, Chief Justice, Fifth District Court of Appeals
Also during the 2010 awards luncheon, the Women’s Council honored two local organizations with a $5,000 grant each. This year’s grantees were:
o Community Dental Care, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide quality, compassionate dental care and dental health education for low-income children and adults.
o Mental Health America of Greater Dallas Operation Healthy Reunions (OHR), is assisting war veterans and/or their families who are transitioning back into civilian life to acquire appropriate mental health and social services.
